In response to the ongoing security situation in the Gulf and Middle East, Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFA) is advising against all travel to Israel, Iraq, Iran and Lebanon. Irish citizens are also advised against non-essential travel to Kuwait, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
DFA is closely monitoring the situation, and Irish Embassies across the region stand ready to provide all appropriate consular assistance to affected Irish citizens.

Advice to Irish citizens in affected areas of the Middle East and Gulf region, is to:
- Monitor developments in the local media
- Avoid unnecessary movement
- Follow the directions of the local authorities, including when the advice is to shelter in place
- Contact your airline or travel agency for the latest updates (including flight cancellations and/or airspace closures)
- Check DFA’s official travel advice for your location (list below)
- Actively monitor advice issued on social media by your local Irish Embassy (details below)
- Follow DFA on social media for updates on X (@dfatirl) and Instagram (@irishforeignministry)
- Register your details with DFA’s Citizens Registration facility
